Director of Graphite Technology


Job Location:  Orlando Technology Center

Reports To:  Sr. Vice President of Business Development and Technology

Manages: N/A

Job Overview:

This role is considered the top expert in graphite, both internally and externally enabling the use of Asbury Carbons extensive portfolio of synthetic & natural graphite, coke and other carbonaceous materials in the US and EU industrial manufacturing markets.   The key deliverable of this job is to drive product/application differentiation with Asbury’s NPD initiatives.  

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with customers to enable best use of Asbury products for customers application cases (drilling, forging, casting, cast metal, etc.)
  • Development of novel specialty solutions (chemicals) containing carbonaceous materials (dispersions, coatings, etc.)
  • Customer and trade show visits to keep up to date with trends in the carbon market.
  • Development/support of characterization techniques to quantify quality of carbon materials from various raw materials sources.
  • Technical presentation of Asbury product lines at customer sites, conferences, and trade shows
  • Provide internal graphite training to all new customer facing employees and serve as an ongoing technical resource.

 

Preferred Experience/skills:

Qualifications include:

  • PhD. or Masters in technical field related to graphite technology development.
  • 10-15 years of industry experience in the graphite or other carbonaceous technology fields
  • Strong understanding of use of graphite/graphene in industrial applications such as lubricants, coatings, etc.
  • Strong technical presentation skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A team-oriented, collaborative work style.
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience collaborating and partnering with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must be willing to travel as required.
  • Strong computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office.

 

Working conditions

Willingness to do overnight travel is required

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Full time day hours; travel and occasional overtime may extend hours
